Froslass (Yuki onna)

Discover my new PokéUkiyoe illustration series, a series that represents Pokémon in traditional japanese style !
Froslass is inspired by the famous yokai Yuki-onna (Yuki-onna 雪女 litterally means Snow Women). Her descriptions in the Pokédex are very similar to those in the legend of Yuki-onna. She is renowned for her beauty and winter, and appears on stormy nights to decide the fate of lost travelers.
It is interesting to note that the whole family is inspired by Japanese folklores. Snorunt is inspired by Amefurikozō 雨降り小僧, a strange child with an umbrella on his head who plays in the rain. Glalie in inspired by the blue oni 雪鬼.
