Discover my new PokéUkiyoe illustration series, a series that represents Pokémon in traditional japanese style !
Today we have Ninetales, represented in a Japanese traditional style (ukiyoe)! I probably learn you anything if I tell you that Ninetales is inspired by the famous yokai Kyubi 九尾 (literally meaning nine tails) That's good, Ninetales' Japanese name is Kyukon キュウコン! We therefore find the 9 (九 kyu, nine) in its Japanese name. Moreover, this logic is also present for Vulpix, which has 6 tails, and which has the Japanese name Rokon ロコン (六 roku, six).
